Bangladesh Bank - The Central Bank of Bangladesh

Bangladesh Bank is the Central Bank of Bangladesh. It is the apex regulatory body for monetary and financial system in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Bank was established on December 16, 1971 through the Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972 (P.O. No. 127 of 1972). It is owned by Bangladesh Government. The Head Office of Bangladesh Bank is located at Motijheel in Dhaka, Bangladesh. At present, Mr. Abdur Rouf Talukder is the Governor of Bangladesh Bank. Mr. A.N. Hamidullah (January 18, 1972 to November 18, 1974) was the first Governor of Bangladesh Bank. The organization is a member of the Asian Clearing Union (ACU). Apart from Motijheel Office, Bangladesh Bank has a number of Branch offices located in Sadarghat (Dhaka), Bogura, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Barishal, Khulna, Sylhet, Rangpur, and Mymensingh.
